People-Pleasing to Peace — How to Stop Outsourcing Your Self-Worth

Introduction If you’ve ever auto-replied “no worries!” when you were actually seething, or said “yes” to a 9pm call while your body begged for sleep, you know people-pleasing isn’t kindness. It’s self-abandonment in a friendly costume. And it’s exhausting. Because here’s the secret no one tells you: you can’t control other people’s opinions of you. You can only control how much you abandon yourself trying to. Research in social psychology calls this “externalized self-worth” — when your sense of okay-ness depends on approval, praise, or avoiding conflict. The problem? It puts your peace in everyone else’s hands. Neuroscience adds another layer. When you anticipate disapproval, your amygdala — your brain’s smoke alarm — fires. Cortisol floods your system. Your prefrontal cortex, the wise CEO of your brain, goes offline. So you agree. You over-explain. You shrink. Not because you’re weak, but because your nervous system thinks disapproval = danger. But you weren’t born to live on emotion...

Stuck Energies in the Body: The Science Behind Emotional Blockages

Introduction   The mind and body are intricately connected. Stress, trauma, and unprocessed emotions can lead to physical and mental discomfort. Research shows these experiences can disrupt the body's physiological balance, causing "stuck" patterns. Let's explore what science says about stuck energies and how they impact health. This concept is supported by studies on somatic experiencing, which suggest that unprocessed emotions can embed themselves in the body, influencing physical sensations and overall well-being. Neurobiological patterns are also affected, as stress alters neural pathways, impacting emotions and bodily sensations. The interplay between psychological experiences and physical manifestations is complex, making stuck energies a multifaceted issue. Effects on the Body The effects of stuck energ...

Are You a Control Freak?

Image
Introduction  I've known control freaks all my life and so I'd say that I'm well-acquainted with the inner workings of a control freak's mind. Based on my dealings with control freaks and my observations, I'd  say that control freaks tend not to act unless they're 100% certain of the outcome of a given situation. Why? Well, it's because they lack a sense of inner security. ( https://psychologenie.com/what-causes-controlling-personality )  So they'll try to avoid taking risks at all costs. In other words, they tend to be risk-averse. That's why they're unlikely to act if they're not sure of the outcome.   Control freaks tend to be bullies, but bullies may not be control freaks. I'm saying this based on my personal experiences. Control freaks may bully others in covert or overt ways. And in both cases, they tend not to feel guilty about their bullying ways. Again, this is based on my experiences with control freaks who are bullies in my lif...
