Why Podcasts Matter for Musicians Podcasts have become a powerful medium for storytelling, marketing and connection. While traditionally unrelated to the music industry, podcasts offer musicians a unique way to reach global audiences, collaborate with influencers and even explore advertising opportunities.  This post delves into how a leading podcast,  The Jordan Harbinger Show , inspired a fresh perspective on music marketing. Do You Like Listening to Podcasts? Yesterday, as I was reading a book titled Traffic Secrets by Russell Brunson , I came across a section on Jordan Harbinger , who's an American podcaster. And so I did a google search on him and found out that his podcast, The Jordan Harbinger Show  has millions of downloads! What Has Podcast Got to Do with Music? Are you wondering why I write about Jordan when my blog is a music blog and not a podcast blog? Well, I'm thinking that I might want to buy ads on his show (not now but eventually) since it's so popular...

From YouTube to Income: Building a Music Monetization Strategy

Monetising YouTube Channel: A Musician’s Journey Starting a YouTube music channel can be exciting, but have you considered its potential to become a source of income? What began as an experiment can evolve into a powerful tool for distributing your music and building a thriving career.  This post explores steps for monetizing your channel and expanding your reach through multiple platforms. Monetising My YouTube Channel When I first started my music video channel on YouTube, it was just a spur of the moment thing, after I watched the speakers on a mastermind webinar talk about taking imperfect actions.  It didn't even occur to me at that point that I should work towards monetising my channel. But on hindsight, I think it's a good idea.  Putting My Music on Multiple Platforms? A couple of days ago, I was thinking hard (sort of) about the possibility of putting my music out into the world through multiple platforms. Or should I just keep to one — YouTube? It may be a better...

Instrumental ~ Untitled

Behind the Scenes of My Latest YouTube Music Video The release of my latest music video,   Instrumental ~ Untitled ,  is  a significant moment in my creative journey. However, it also brought a challenge: a copyright issue.  In this post, I’ll share updates on the resolution provided by Google, and my perspective on the importance of protecting artistic rights. Update on Violation of My Copyright Today, the Google support team got back to me and said something to the effect that the ads campaign for my latest music video is approved, which means, in effect, they've cleared me of c opyright violation. But I think that the violator has to be sued in a court of law and be made to pay a fine of up to $10,000 (in SGD) to me. (I read an article in a law-related website or in Singapore's Ministry of Law website, and the writer of the article states something to the effect that a person, if found guilty of violation of copyright, will be liable to pay a fine of up to $1...

Instrumental ~ Untitled

Experience My Latest Original Piano Piece I'm excited to share my latest music video,  Instrumental ~ Untitled . This impromptu piano composition, recorded on 19 Nov 2020, is a true reflection of my creativity as the copyright owner.  My Latest Instrumental Music Instrumental ~ Untitled   is an other piece of impromptu music. It's  totally unedited, as in I didn't edit it using VLLO .  Neither did I edit it using a background noise removal software or app, such as MAUVIO. The reason is simple: Someone has violated my copyright before. (Remember what I wrote in my previous post?) (Please note that I've changed the video setting to private view, because I've already uploaded the edited version on YouTube.) Edited Version If you prefer to listen to/watch the edited version, please check back in a couple of days' time.  A Celebration of Raw and Refined Creativity This original piece is a testament to the spontaneity and beauty of unfiltered music. Whether you ...

Violation of My Copyright!

Understanding Copyright Violation In the digital age, protecting your creative work is more crucial than ever. As a music creator, I recently faced a troubling situation when I received a notification from Google regarding a copyright claim on my latest music video,  Relaxing Music . Despite being the rightful owner, I found myself in a perplexing predicament that raised questions about the security of my content and the potential for unauthorised access.  In this post, I'll share my experience and I hope that it serves as a reminder to creators to stay vigilant. Someone Has Violated My Copyrighted Content! I uploaded my latest music video (Relaxing Somewhere) to YouTube two days after I'd created it. And yesterday, the Google support team sent me an email, stating something to the effect that I need to get a certificate for copyrighted content.  Why should I get a certificate when I'm the copyright owner??!! So obviously someone must have uploaded my latest music and/or ...
